Understanding cell differentiation at single cell resolution

High-throughput single cell RNA-Sequencing (scRNA-Seq) provides unprecedented power in resolving gene expression in complex tissues. We recently generated scRNA-Seq expression atlases for the Arabidopsis root and shoot that provide an unparalleled spatiotemporal view of development (Denyer et al., 2019). We seek to combine this information with related single cell data on chromatin accessibility to resolve how cell fates emerge and how these orchestrate the differentiation of specialized cell types in the root and shoot stem cell niches.
