Genomic analyses of carnivorous fungi to study the evolution of predation in the fungal kingdom
Advisor: Yen-Ping Hsueh
Location: Max Planck Institute for Biology Tübingen
In this project, we aim to use comparative genomics to study how carnivorism arouse in the fungal Kingdom. We have generated the chromosome level genomes for more than a dozen species of nematode trapping fungi and plan to assemble additional genomes for several species of the Pleurotus mushrooms. You will also generate deep transcript isoform data using both Illumina and long-read technology to facilitate gene annotation with accuracy. Students with background in genomics and computation biology are especially encouraged to apply for this project.
