Directed evolution of Methanobrevibacter smithii in mice

Advisor: Jill Waters

PhD Program: International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) 'From Molecules to Organisms'
Location: Max Planck Institute for Biology, Ley Lab

Project description

For this project, you will use germfree mice to develop a simplified bacterial model community that maximizes the fitness of Methanobrevibacter smithii in the mouse gut. Genetic underpinnings of adaptation of M. smithii to the murine gut environment will be explored.
